Super Ace left In Tears, Returning To Korea In The Spotlight

Super Ace left in tears. When I returned to Korea, I left with a smile holding the MVP trophy.

NC Eric Peddie, who dominated the KBO League, visited the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Awards Ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul on the 27th.

It is unusual for a foreign player to visit Korea again after the season and attend the awards ceremony.

Peddie, who showed off his outstanding performance this season, was in the spotlight on this day.

Peddie appeared in 30 regular season games, recording 20 wins, 6 losses, an ERA of 2.00 (40 earned runs in 180⅓ innings), and 209 strikeouts. He achieved the Triple Crown, ranking first in most wins, earned run average, and strikeouts.

He is the fourth player to win the triple crown (ERA, most wins, strikeouts), following Dong-yeol Dong-yeol (1986, 1989-1991), Hyun-jin Ryu (2006), and Seok-min Yoon (2011). This is the first record for a foreign player.

He was also selected as the inaugural winner of the KBO defensive emergency pitcher category, which was newly established this year.

The MVP was naturally his. He received overwhelming support with 102 out of 111 votes cast by reporters. The vote rate was 91.9%.

Fedi sai, "I would like to express my gratitude to the KBO League. I was able to receive the award because I came to a team called NC. I did not expect it to end like this, but I am so honored and happy. I attended with the hope of receiving the MVP." “I’m really happy to actually receive it,” he said of the award.

He continued, “I wouldn’t have been able to win the award if it wasn’t for my teammates. I want to say that we are brothers until the end. I am also grateful to coach In-kwon Kang, the coaches, and the staff.” He added, “I want to give this honor to the city of Changwon. Many citizens helped. “No matter where I go from now on, Changwon will be my second hometown.”

After finishing the awards ceremony, Peddie returned to the United States on the 28th. Now, the focus is on whether Peddie can continue to be seen in the KBO League.

With love calls pouring in from the American Major League as well as Japanese professional baseball, Peddie said about the possibility of renewing his contract with NC, "I plan to talk with NC first and then with other teams. No matter what choice I make, my family will come first. Of course, NC will also do it." “We need to talk about it. I think NC is a very good team among many teams,” he added.

Peddie, who shed hot tears as his advance to the Korean Series was thwarted, left with a smile this time.
