Tel Aviv Open Tennis in Israel canceled due to be held in November
The Tel Aviv Open of the Men's Professional Tennis (ATP) Tour, scheduled to be held in November, was canceled due to the armed conflict between Israel and the Palestinian armed political faction Hamas.
The ATP Tour announced on the 15th that "the Tel Aviv Open will not be held due to growing safety concerns due to armed conflict taking place in the region."
The Tel Aviv Open was scheduled to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel, for one week starting November 5th.
Last year marked the first time in 26 years since 1996 that an ATP tour tournament was held in Israel.
Novak Djokovic (Serbia) won last year's competition.
“We strongly condemn all forms of violent terrorism and express our condolences to those innocently killed in this incident,” the ATP Tour said, adding, “We hope that peace will quickly return to the region.”
